A Statement from the BBA, Angela Benighted Writes...

Since our take over of the Shepherd's Bush Empire we have left you alone but unprovoked critical comment has been made about the Bonkers Bankers and I feel a reply is needed.

Of course with an election coming up we cannot but expect self-serving politicians to do anything else but bash the Bonkers Bankers who have done so much to contribute the the present wealth of the Western world. We do not need the banks to expend time and energy securing a better capital base; it is much more important that we get on and generate fees and income and ensure that we climb out of recession rather than that money is laid down as assets. The alternative is a double, triple or even quadruple dip recession. In ten years time, with luck, everyone will have forgotten about the thousands of billions of $ of debt that have been generated by the Bonkers Bankers and transferred to the public sector to be paid off by tax payers and civil servants.

It is of course not true that the Bonkers Bankers were at fault, they were just generating wealth for themselves and more rarely, others. Nor is it true that they did not understand the nature or impact of the products they were generating and selling or, at the other end of the transaction, buying. Nor can it be argued that if they did understand what they were buying and selling then they must have been guilty of negligence; it just that ordinary people out there, beyond the walls of the banking bubble, do not have the intellegence or knowledge to understand what is going on.

Nor come to that, does the Governor of the Bank of England who in his efforts to overcome my frustrations has consistently missed the spot in his provision of largesse. Nor is it true that the High Street Banks are utilities with a casino attached. This again shows the ignorance of the inhabitants of Shepherd's Bush or anyone else who dares criticise the Bonkers Bankers.

Angela Benighted, C.Exec Bonkers Bankers Association.
